Bronze sponsorship will provide funding for:

  • Art therapy for 20 young people, enabling them to develop their skills and confidence
  • A month of public transport for 65 young people enabling them to travel to and from interviews and appointments

  • Up to 400 hours of 1:1 counselling for young people to build engagement and help them to link with the services they need to improve their lives
  • Longer term accommodation opportunities providing clients with a safe place to stay
  • A new, larger vehicle helping us to take clients to external appointments and interviews
  • Additional training programs including hospitality, work readiness and art classes
  • Development of new life skills course that supports young people coming out of the justice system to break the cycle of dependence and criminal behaviour

Alcohol and Drug Counsellor

About TaskForce

The South Eastern Consortium of Alcohol and Drug Agencies (SECADA) provides alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in the South Eastern Catchment. The consortium comprises experienced organisations with a united commitment to providing opportunities for change and growth in the catchment by reducing AOD use, improving physical and mental health, and reconnecting people to their families and the community.

Since 1973, TaskForce has provided specialist support for people in serious need in Victoria. Our core services focus on addressing social issues of addiction, unemployment, mental health and high risk taking behaviours, supporting our clients to transition back into “mainstream” services and supports.

About the position

TaskForce, as part of the SECADA Consortium, now has an exciting opportunity for an AOD Counsellor to join this client centred team, based in Dandenong. The focus of this position is to reduce AOD related harms to forensic and voluntary clients and their families by conducting intake and assessments, facilitating therapeutic groups, coordinating care and recovery treatment plans and providing a range of counselling interventions to assist clients and their family members.  The role will be working with the Intake team and will also be undertaking assessments and counselling.

About you

You will be an experienced AOD Clinician who has previously worked with mandated clients. You will have at least 2 years experience in the provision of assessment and counselling services to forensic AOD clients and knowledge of harm minimisation, client-centered care and recovery-focused principles.  You will be skilled in case management and the use of evidence based therapeutic techniques.

You will have a passion for working with people suffering from substance abuse and the ability to build strong rapport with your clients.  You will have tertiary qualifications in psychology or counselling and be equipped with a Certificate IV in AOD (or equivalent AOD competencies).

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Education Services the role will coordinate ACFE funded and Fee for Service training across the organisation. The role will assist with the development of appropriate curriculum and teaching and learning strategies as well as deliver Fee for Service training. The position will also be the Clinical and Educational Supervisor for the ACFE Programs. There will be a strong focus on quality outcomes and targeted growth of our Education Services.

About You

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experiencing in coordination, planning and overseeing the smooth delivery of Educational programs and a strong understanding of vocational educational and training requirements in the Community Services sector. With previous experience supervising staff, you are someone who can think outside the box and manage multiple projects and priorities. Ideally you will have a base qualification equivalent at least to a Diploma level in the teaching department’s area, together with TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Experience working in the VET or TAFE sector is essential.

Mental Health Outreach Clinician (Cranbourne)

Who we are

TaskForce is a not-for-profit organisation providing community programs and services to those most in need. TaskForce focuses on the social issues of addiction, youth disengagement, unemployment, mental health and high risk taking behaviours.

The Navigator Program

The Navigator program in the south east is a partnership between Taskforce, South East Local Learning and Employment Network, Centre for Multicultural Youth, and South East Community Links. The program supports disengaged learners, aged 12-17 years, to re-engage with an education or training pathway.

About the Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Mental Health Outreach Clinician with a ‘can do’ attitude and an innovative approach to helping young people. The Mental Health Outreach Clinician will provide non-judgmental assertive outreach support to young people and their families in an environment that is accessible, non-threatening and safe. It is a dynamic role that provides intensive therapeutic case work to young people, some family work as well as group-based interventions. The client group are young people with complex support needs which may include; drug and alcohol use, ill mental health, school disengagement, criminal activity and family conflict. The principle of harm minimisation is fundamental to the approach of funded drug treatment services.

Who we are looking for

Ideally you have 4 + years experience implementing evidence-based psychological interventions to meet the needs of young people with psychological issues. You are also experienced in working with families, particularly in terms of casework, individual and family support, group work and counselling. You have demonstrated experience working autonomously, you are practical, useful and tenacious; with the ultimate purpose of helping young people to achieve a positive pro-social identity and achieve a sense of belonging and connectedness in their communities. You are someone who can think outside of the square and be creative in how, when and where young people are engaged and supported. Relevant qualifications in an allied health discipline such as psychology, social work, mental health nursing and occupational therapy will be highly regarded.

About the role

This role will be responsible for delivering education to youth and adults contextualised towards employment in a hospitality/food handling/ gardening/warehouse distribution and food processing. The Trainers will use initiative to implement “out of the box” learning programs that focus on teaching basic foundations of each area, enabling the participants to pathway into further training in this industry/setting. The right candidate will have a passion for training and mentoring students and have strong communication and organisational skills.

About you

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with clients to re-engage them for education and/or employment. Your experience facilitating learning and assessment in a diverse range of settings will help set you up for success in this role. A passion to connect with marginalised people, along with a professional approach is essential.
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in either Hospitality, Gardening or Warehouse Distribution & Food Processing
  • Proven ability to engage with vulnerable cohorts facing barriers in education and employment
  • A genuine passion for building opportunities for people facing disadvantage
  • A qualification in the Community Services sector
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) and relevant qualification at the level of teaching is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of motivation, initiative and time management skills
  • Current driver’s licence and working with children’s check

The Trainer is responsible for the overall delivery and supervision of the training program. You will work closely with the Program Coordinator to implement and review the program, whilst ensuring you meet client expectations.

About TaskForce

TaskForce delivers services via three connected streams: specialist AOD services to support people who use drugs and their families, youth retention and re-engagement with education, training and employment, and specialist training through RTO status to enhance the capacity of AOD and other workers to support effective delivery of community-based services.

TaskForce is a leading provider of Driver Education Programs in Victoria and has been assisting people to restore their licences through the provision of both Drink and Drug Drive Education Programs for several years.

The Drink and Drug Driver Behaviour Change Programs

The Drink and Drug Driver Behaviour Change Program Services will involve the delivery of up to three programs for clients:

  • Victorian Drink Driver program (6 hours)
  • Victorian Drug Driver program (6 hours)
  • Victorian Intensive Drink and Drug Driver program (10 – 12 hours)

The first two programs are primarily based on cognitive behavioural and motivational approaches and include some education. Each of the programs includes screening and assessment for alcohol and other drug dependency and where appropriate assertive referral to treatment services. The intensive program is delivered over three weeks and is for more serious driving offences.

About the position

TaskForce now has exciting opportunities for AOD professionals to facilitate the BCP Program across various locations. Reporting to the Education Manager, your role is to deliver specific Behaviour Change group programs to men and women to assist them to restore their licences.

This position is casual and each program involves 2 x 3 hour sessions. You will spend your time working with the group facilitating the program, all other administrative duties are looked after by our intake team!  We are looking for Facilitators to work from the City, Bentleigh, Broadmeadows, Frankston, Rosebud, Seaford, Cockatoo, Dandenong & Pakenham.

Will the program be delivered during the COVID-19 crisis?

Our BCP program is open for business but we have changed the way we deliver programs to keep everyone safe.  TaskForce are now offering BCP programs online.  If the client does not have access to a computer, we can deliver the program over the phone.

About you

You will have a genuine passion for working with people suffering from substance abuse and the ability to build strong rapport with your clients.  You will also have the following:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working with mandated clients and behavioral change interventions with a reputable drug and alcohol treatment provider or related service
  • Qualifications in psychology, social work, health, human services or a related discipline and the Certificate IV in AOD skill set
  • A driver’s licence with no more than six (6) demerit points and no licence disqualifications or suspensions

Experience running therapeutic groups will be highly regarded.
